FALSE FLAGS.
What do Mathew Shepard, Michael Brown, the Pulse nightclub shooter and Jewish Community Center bomb threats have in common? Mathew, Michael, Pulse and JCC’s were used as examples of victims of widespread hate in America (racism, homophobia and anti-Semitism). These cases were unjustly used to prove bigotry is deep seated in America. As leftists’ ingrates often put it, “it’s in America’s DNA”. These assertions are hideous distortions of our history. It’s 2020, not 1619, 1860, 1969, not even 2000. My dad, born in 1918, grew up in Denver when the Klan paraded on the streets and NJA (no Jews allowed) signs were not uncommon. La Jolla was an NJA town 50 years ago. My dad never perceived America as anti-Semitic, nor do I. I love La Jolla. It is unquestionable that America has been a wonderment for Jews despite past problems. Those who revel in a victim past do a great disservice to the nation and their own happiness.
Millions of Americans follow headlines and form opinions with a thin veneer of accurate information. The media often feeds them “news” with a partisan slant. Leaving out facts and historical context is regular course. Then the media churns ratings on the theme of hate while ignoring or downplaying emerging facts that run contrary to their narrative. Turned out that two tragic murders, one mass slaughter and dozens of bomb threats had nothing to do with homophobia, racism or anti-Semitism. In spite of the facts as they played out, the rush of early inaccurate news reports inspired rallies around the nation, leaving a dangerous misperception among those who still don’t know the truth. One commentator, pundit and activist (God I hate that word) after another continues to refer to these non-hate events to support their mischaracterization of hate in America. Sound familiar?
Studies have demonstrated that upwards of 60% of alleged hate events have been staged. Jussie Smollett’s scheme was just the most well-known hoax. (WSJ January 25, 2019 Hate Crime Hoaxes Are More Common Than You Think, Jason L. Riley). There was a media rush of righteous indignation about the way Jussie was victimized by racists. I just heard a college kid at a local BLM protest say Michael Brown woke him up to the reality of police brutality and racism. Another young man talked about genocide of blacks. These two kids are among millions of young people motivated by inaccurate information and who are ignorant of meaning of words they use. Why? Because the media and academia misuse many words to include ‘genocide’.
Shouldn’t a review of history caution us to proceed with care when we are told about a racist incident? Apparently not. The nation is convulsing with rage based over a tragic crime without any information indicating it was race based, other than white cop and black victim. Are the Asian, Hispanic and black cops passively watching the life seeping out of Floyd also racists? Evidence that race may not have been the reason for the murder is ignored by media. Cities are on fire, police stations abandoned to looters, businesses torched, and cops killed on the streets based in part on incredibly poor media coverage and mass political exploitation.
Mathew was murdered by guys he knew, had been intimate with and shared drugs. Michael was a thug who had strong armed a convenience store employee (man of color) just moments before his death and assaulted the cop who shot him – tried to get the officer’s gun. Witnesses, black and white, testified that Michael never raised his hands as the 300-pound kid went after the cop he had just assaulted a moment before. The murderer at Pulse had no idea it was a gay nightclub. The JCC bomb threats were called in by an emotionally disturbed Jewish kid in Israel and disgruntled boyfriend.
There are bigots in America. No argument there. There are racists, homophobes and anti-Semites of every color and ethnicity in America. But the endemic nature of bigotry in America trumpeted by academics and media is just not true. Opportunity abounds like never before in our history and not accessible in any other nation. I know in the last three months there has been a self-imposed depression. As of June 5, 2020, it appears a V shaped recovery is emerging.
How many protesters today know the name Reginal Denny? How about Rodney King? We are told Rodney was a victim of police racial hate emblematic of a systemic problem. While Reginal is just a white guy in the wrong neighborhood, pulled from his truck, viciously kicked with his head bashed in by a brick thrown by a black kid. Google the video.
FAILURE TO KNOW HISTORY
How many protesters know that the mavens of racial justice mapped out the solutions to racist police practices more than 50 years ago. Civilian police review boards, black police chiefs, minority officers, black city council members, mayors, prosecutors, demilitarizing the police and community policing were supposed to end “racist” practices. Now more then 50 years later after most of these measures have been instituted in most of the troubled neighborhoods, we are told the mistreatment continues unabated.
When minorities, most left leaning, are in charge at all levels of law enforcement the problems persisted. The transformation of police authorities in the direction the activists suggested merely played around the edges of a deep-seated cultural problem. Neither black officials nor money can solve the problems.
Defunding the police and taking away their non-lethal tools, as demanded by BLM, will only make things worse for the people in our poorest areas. More blacks will die.
Police brutality has been exaggerated while community sourced issues are excused or ignored. The far greater carnage (body count) in those communities continues. The Memorial Day weekend prior to the murder of George Floyd saw 40 people shot and 10 killed on the streets of Chicago. I guess those black lives don’t matter as much. At least in terms of national outrage and mass demonstrations. Silly me, I believe all lives matter not just the ones killed by cops. Easier to slander cops then deal with serious cultural problems that can’t be traced to racism. What happens weekly in Chicago is repeated in Detroit, Baltimore, New Orleans, East Saint Louis among too many other cities.
THE BIG LIE
The unassailable statistics as disseminated by Heather Mac Donald in the WSJ on June 3, 2020 run counter to the media/activist narrative. In 2019 there were 1,004 fatal police shootings. Most of the cops were confronted by armed or otherwise dangerous suspects. African Americans accounted for 235 of those killed. Sadly, these are lower numbers than what the crime rate by young black men would suggest. In 2018 African Americans accounted for 53% of homicide offenders, 60% of robberies as 13% (predominantly a young male segment of that 13%) of the population. In 2018 there were 7,407 black homicide victims. Of those 9 unarmed blacks were victims of police. That’s 0.1 % of those killed in 2019. Police are 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black by a cop. Is there not a serious problem among young black men? Or is it racist to point out that fact. The first casualty of protest movements is the truth. Just saw a CNN correspondent ask a young man why he is at a protest. The kid said he came on behalf of the innocent African Americans dying every day at the hands of cops. That would be at least 365 if it were true. The CNN correspondent should have known better and corrected the kid. Does he question the kid? No, that is what a journalist or newsman would do.
NOXIOUS CORPORATE PANDERING
I have received emails from Walmart, 23andMe and Lucky Brands professing their solidarity with the black community at this moment of trauma. It gives me indigestion when I get these obviously meaningless corporate politically correct gestures of “solidarity”. Where the hell were these companies the week prior when 10 were murdered and 40 shot in Chicago? The same virtue signaling goes on among celebrities, professional athletes and protesters screaming and yelling profanities, throwing bricks and frozen water bottles at law enforcement. Hey, to all those peaceful protestors, how come you don’t corral the violent loons around you, if you are repulsed by violence? We are told that you outnumber them. If you can’t, why associate with them day after day. All that solidarity won’t buy you a cup of coffee at a thoroughly politically correct Starbucks. After listening to the corporate pandering and lack of knowledge among the protesters, I need some Pepto.
SOLUTIONS DO EXIST
Here’s an idea. Instead of defunding the cops, help those you claim to care so much about. LeBron, Colin, Colbert, Fallon, Seth and all the rest, here is how you can actually make a difference. Form a new organization titled Celebrities and Athletes for the Restoration of Fatherhood (CARF). Use all your resources; corporate, financial and political, in person and social media to restore a culture where young people are much more likely to succeed, stay in school, avoid drugs and crime. Make it ‘woke’ for young people to get married and finish school before they have kids.
Or just kneel during the National Anthem to draw attention to yourself and piss off at least half of the nation to no productive end. I am so disappointed that Drew Brees collapsed under the media onslaught.
How about lobby with all your political/corporate buddies demanding vouchers for every kid in a bad neighborhood. A father and school choice are the real sources of liberation for everyone. Hog tying law enforcement is a false God. Liberate poor people of every variety from the worst government schools. Give them the opportunity to succeed.
It might feel better to crap on the President, decry the police, do noxious public service announcements and go off topic at award events. Well-meaning or not, those kinds of actions are 100% worthless.
LIES KILL
The motivation for the mass murders of the 20th Century were grounded in big lies. The big lie of Aryan racial superiority. The big lie of Japanese racial superiority. And, of course, the big lie of a communist Utopia. The body count flowing from those who bought the lies was in the 100’s of millions. So far, the big lie that America is a racist nation has generated a smaller body count. Let’s keep it that way.
As I write the entire media, even Fox News, is supporting the canard (lie) that America has a deep-seated racial problem today. Millions of well-meaning young people propagandized in school are acting out with notions of participation in a romantic revolution. The anarchists egg them on with vacuous slogans like black lives matters and more vulgarities then I can count. It’s a deadly brew. They are unwittingly and unjustly tearing apart the most tolerant and free nation to have ever existed by participating in mass virtue signaling. It’s feel good, accomplish nothing for black Americans.
Just three months ago black Americans were experiencing the lowest unemployment rate ever. Police killings of unarmed blacks were down. Opportunity for blacks and all Americans was soaring. If Americans use the false flag of systemic racism to tear us apart while ignoring the deep cultural problems that plague Americans of every variety, disproportionally blacks, then we all lose. We are not immune from the great errors of the past. If one listens to the rhetoric on our streets over the last week, it is not hard to envision societal disaster. God knows my natural optimism is being tested.
Love your LOGIC! Now if only people will read this and think. Republican “leaders” are coming out today stating they will Not vote for Trump. Even they believe the media hype and fear constituents. To them public opinion is 80+% on the leftist side. Such foolish cowards. I hope Dershowitz’s book “Blitz” is right. If not I’m splitting.
Spectacular article for the ignorant that scream propaganda lies because they did not take the time to learn the truth, and for those that take no position or despise destruction and violence but want to learn the truth…
Great job Mr. Hayutin. Keep on producing enlightening work.
Sebastian G said on his shoe last week that the 20 somethings have only learned rewritten history and have been taught, in their curriculum, that America is the root of all evil in the world. No wonder they’re full of rage and hate. None even had to say the Pledge of Allegiance at school. And from grade school on the teachers insisted they skip school and protest.
As a (now retired) psychotherapist, I have known for many years that the problems all of us face are within, and have nothing to do with so-called systemic racism. Americans of all races that succeed get married, internalize strong religious values, and are grateful for America–everything that has slowly disappeared over the last fifty years. Perhaps these ideals will return someday.
amen; I did a little research about the difficulty of being a single mother in our society today. It might the toughest job in the whole US. In about 1990 there were 64 black children born to single mothers, and in 2010 it was nearly 81 in a 100. These youngsters born in poverty almost always end up as adults in poverty. Maybe we need to start there to help these single mothers/ culture in urban America. Where are the men/fathers in these enclaves. The task of a single mother is overwhelming and maybe we can help those people to a better life away from constant crime and lawlessness. Just saying.
Great article Mike. What are the consequences of believing in systemic racism when there is not evidence it exists. We will never get rid of individual racism–those bigots need to continue to be condemned and punished, but we live in a time were anyone can achieve anything they work for. We could all focus on being victims if we wanted to do that. Sadly, we live in a time where emotions trump logic and reason. No pun intended. Thanks for sharing this.
Actually, hundreds (if not thousands) of blacks are killed already every year because of the Big Lie about systemic racism. Chicago cops have already been castrated and can’t do the job properly to protect blacks.
The greatest protectors of blacks (the majority who are law-abiding) in this country are law enforcement allowed to do their jobs. As a consequence, criminals must be put incarcerated and pay for their crimes as opposed to get out of jail early with faulty First Step legislation and Wuhan Virus get out of jail free cards.
Here is a lecture at a home discussion group from 1969 by G. Edward Griffin. He describes in shocking detail what is happening today – and how it will happen/did happen/is happening.
